A Poem

The Banker stayed. The Actor played.
The MBA gleaned. The Janitor cleaned.
The Teacher shared. The Caregiver cared.
The Improviser created. The Linguist related.
The Clerk tracked. The Vice President backed.
The Trainer designed. The Coach aligned.

Opposites Attract

I have lived all of the roles listed above, each making a vital contribution to the breadth, depth and diversity of my coaching. One question I often get asked: “How did you go from Texas Banker to New York Actor?” I respond quietly: "I like dramatic change."

All of my coaching clients are seeking to make change - some big, others subtle, many paradoxical. Good coaching is never formulaic because human beings are not machines but constitute a complex interplay of positive and negative emotions with competing values. How do you coach a person who wants to risk and be safe, to hold on and let go, to be prepared yet be spontaneous? Answer: Easy; easy because I love what I do, and because this is the rich material that makes coaching an art form.
